One nervous breakdown, one sale, and 2 major decision later, we have had a hugely successful weekend! I will use the cut to save space, but first, let’s see what baby is up to this week, which by the way is our last as an eggplant:
Your baby’s eyes are partially open now and can blink. Her eyes have color now, too. It may not be the color she ultimately ends up with, especially if they’re light gray or blue. The eyes typically don’t settle on a final hue until nine months after baby is born. Your babe is downright chubby compared to a few weeks ago.
OK, on to news of being successful!
First, we took advantage of Maclaren’s sale this weekend at their outlet store which is conveniently located about 10 minutes from our home. Sweet! I went in Friday to scope it out and first of all, these are the NICEST people on the planet! Second of all, the markdowns were up to 50% off before the 20% off coupon. Third, there were no damaged or returned items, these were all brand new, in the box. The goal (we found out Saturday) was to clear space in the main store for the 09 models.
So Friday they took me through the models and I did a ton of research and then Saturday we bought the Quest. I love the color – lime and black – bright and fun! Plus the features on the 08 are great and it is easy to fold, has a carrying strap, and it top rated by everyone! Whew! AND we can start using it at 3 months until whenever…
So then, we decided that we did not need the baby jogger anymore and went for a simple Graco snugride/snap and go thingy for the infant carrier. You know my thing about NOT having a ton of strollers and NOT having a travel system! But my favorite part (other than the ton of safely features and top rating) is that with the sale and coupon, we got this Maclaren for about $100 LESS than retail! Score!!
So riding on that high, we went furniture shopping and that is NOT fun! Until we found a little baby nirvana in Danbury with the best sales people who gave us so much attention and time. Not to mention the fact that as soon as we walked in, we saw it. The Munire Newport! It is the most beautiful set I have ever seen! We went with the crib, a 5 drawer taller dresser and nightstand, instead of the armoire (who needs one of those anyway?) and the low dresser seems too childish. This set easily converts into a full size bed and will easily last little girl 18 years, or until she buys her own furniture! And since I was on their web site and signed up for an email newsletter, I got a free blanket. The softest blanket on earth! So furniture, plus of course, mattress, all ordered!
And really, that is about all we have been up to, but that feels like more than enough! Baby is still rocking and rolling around and according to the doctor (who we saw Friday) is still doing great. My doctor said I should start feeling her a LOT more now that I am off for the winter break. Apparently as I get more active (and teaching is pretty active), baby gets less active, which explains her night time partying 🙂
